Vybz Kartel Trial: Star Witness Inconsistent Says Defense

One of the defense attorneys today highlighted several inconsistencies in the star witness’ testimony in the murder case involving dancehall deejay, Vybz Kartel.

Attorney for Kahira Jones, Mr. Pierre Rogers pointed out several incidents which were either not in the prosecution’s star witness’ statements to the police or were a contradiction to his testimony in court.

Of these included the witness testifying in court to not having a firearm on the night of August 16 2011; however in a previous statement he stated that a man handed him a weapon when he arrived home from the meeting with the accused men that night.

Another inconsistency Mr. Rogers highlighted was that in his statement to the police, the key witness stated that on the night of the August 16, Clive “Lizard” Williams while at the residence in Havendale was held down by three men during the encounter.

Rogers pointed out to the witness that in court he testified that Kahira Jones was the one who grabbed and held Lizard.

Mr. Rogers also pointed that the star witness recollection of meeting with lizard, lizards’ sister and the witness on August 14 2011 were not in collaboration with Lizards’ sister’s statement.

Mr. Rogers highlight that the time and other details surrounding that meeting which the star witness testified to, are in contradiction to Lizard’s sister’s statement.

When Mr. Rodgers suggested to the witness that in light of the inconsistencies, the witness is telling lies to the court; the witness responded that he is telling the truth and has no reason to lie.

Today’s session was adjourned shortly after attorney for Andre St. John; Miss Tamika Harris began her cross examination.

She is expected to continue on Monday when the case resumes.

Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm along with three others are on trial for the murder of Clive Lizard Williams.
