Born: June 29, 1952
Don Carlos (Euvin Spencer) was born and raised in one of the most deprived regions of Western Kingston,in a district notoriously known as Waterhouse, which incidentally is also a musical spawning ground for many of Reggae’s greatest ever talents. He started his career back in 1973, as one of the original members of Black Uhuru, longside Garth Dennis (who later joined The Wailing Souls)
and Ducky Simpson; Uhuru’s central figure. Don played a prominent role in the recordings of the highly acclaimed ‘Love Crisis’ album, for producer Prince Jammy in 1977. After some time finding his sound as a soloist Carlos became very popular in the live scene and released several solo albums working longside Goldie, his backup vocalist and co-writer. Though Carlos’ solo peak period was during the 80’s dancehall craze, he still maintains his roots flavor and awesome melodies to this day.
