Aidonia’s “Touch You Tonight” land Russians in jail

The jail sentencing of three Russian women shows that there is a place and time for twerking.

Three Russian women were sentenced to jail Saturday for twerking to Aidonia’s track “Touch You Tonight”.

The video which is being circulated on Youtube was made as a promotion for the women’s school, Art Dance. It shows six women gyrating to the raw version of Aidonia’s song in front of a World War II memorial in Russia.

Of the six, two were given 10 days in jail each, a third 15 days and two others received fines on charges of petty hooliganism. While charges are being pressed against the parents of one underage girl who was twerking with the others girls.

Prosecutors had said their “erotic and sexual twerk dance” was disrespectful to historic memory and unacceptable.

This is the second twerking scandal to rock Russia in less than two weeks. Earlier in April, BuzzFeed News reported that two criminal investigations were launched after a teenage dance troupe’s Winnie-the-Pooh-themed twerking video went viral.

The sentences come as Russia prepares to mark the 70th anniversary of the World War Two victory.
