Gospel entertainer Papa San is back on the local gospel scene with a new CD dubbed MY STORY after an extended break.GOSPEL deejay Papa San will be launching his new album My Story this evening at 5 Swallowfield Road in Kingston followed by a gospel concert.
For Papa San, born Tyrone Thompson, the album is “everybody’s experience”.
In speaking about his latest project he noted “My Story can be any and everybody’s story. Because we all face the same temptations and we all can testify that God is a deliverer. If you are a believer then you can make that declaration. We all are faced with different things such as sickness, disease, financial difficulties and anxieties yet we all can testify that God is a deliverer,” he shared.
Although all the tracks on the album are inspiring there are two that stand out for Papa San and they are Devotion and God Is Love.
“Devotion testifies to the fact that God is a healer. People’s lives are being broken and shattered in many pieces and God is a healer and God is Love shows the faithfulness of God that even when your friends fail, he is still there,” he shared with Splash.
Papa San’s My Story features contemporary Christian music’s singer/songwriter Nicole C Mullen on Source Of Strength and Grammy-nominated vocalist Trey Lorenz on the ballad Rescue Me.
Although he has not been dominant on the local gospel stage since migrating to the United States, Papa San is very active in his gospel ministry on the international circuit. He has graced the stages in places such as Canada, other parts of the Caribbean, Africa and Europe.
For all that he says “I am satisfied to see how far God has brought us, we still have a way to go, but there is no limit with God on our side,” were his comments.
With emphasis on ministry, Papa San is about more than putting out music, his mandate also includes the spoken word — preaching and teaching the word.
“My wife and I were recently ordained as pastor and co-pastor and formed a church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida called Our Father’s Kingdom Ministries,” said the gospel deejay.
This evening, to help him celebrate the launch of My Story will be fellow gospel artistes Carlene Davis, Omari, Kevin Downswell, Sharon Wiles and Tiffany Hall. But for the gospel deejay it’s another chance to enjoy being home again
