Dean Ivanhoe Fraser is without doubt Jamaica’s premier reggae saxophonist.
He first appeared on the Jamaican
music scene in the mid-70s. Fraser first recorded with Lloyd ‘Gitsy’ Willis in ’75 and in ’77, he joined the ‘We The
People Band’, led by Lloyd Parks.The band recorded several successful records for Joe Gibbs and gained a high profile backing Dennis Brown. In 1978, Gibbs produced Fraser’s first album, Black Horn Man. He regularly backed
Sly And Robbie on world tours and in
the studio, and also played with Gregory Isaacs and many more great artists.
Dean continues to tour with Luciano
and the Xterminator crew as well as assisting Philip ‘Fattis’ Burrell with production and arrangements in the studio. Dean Fraser is constantly called upon to add saxophone to the numerous recordings being produced in Jamaica every year. As a producer and music arranger as well, this world-class musician is admired and respected by reggae fans all over the world.
