Dancehall entertainer Alkaline real name Earlan Bartley was released this evening without charge.
The release follows an application for his immediate release by the deejays attorney Peter Champagnie in the St. Andrew parish court on Monday morning. The sitting judge ordered that Alkaline be charged or released by 6:00pm today Monday February 13.
The dancehall entertainer who has been in police custody since last Thursday was being held for questioning in relation to an ongoing murder case.
The Superintendent overseeing the case told the court the Vendetta deejay was asked one hundred questions to which he replied “I am innocent of these charges;” thus declaring his innocence.
Last Tuesday the criminal investigation branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force released a statement asking Alkaline to turn himself in for questioning as they believed he could assist with an investigation.
