Prominent Dancehall superstar, Bounty Killer faces an emotionally daunting next couple of weeks as he prepares for two major events in his life.
On Monday, the Alliance leader hosted a nine night in his home community of Seaview Gardens in Kingston to celebrate the life of his late mother, Ivy Williams aka Miss Ivy, who died late last month following an illness. The nine night was attended by several of Bounty Killer’s peers, including Busy Signal, Elephant Man, Kiprich and, most notably his long-time rival, Beenie Man who all offered condolences and words of encouragement to the ‘War Lord’ during his time of mourning.
Now, media reports been confirmed that the funeral service for Miss Ivy will take place on Sunday March 18, though no venue and time has been offered as yet. On Wednesday, Bounty Killer again paid tribute to his late mother, acknowledging what would have been her 72nd birthday, via Twitter.
“Happy birthday to my beloved mama, Miss Ivy Williams, today is her 72nd birthday 7.3.40/26.2.12. U “ll all ways be here with us mama my hero and shero love u darling!!” he tweeted.
Two days following his mother’s funeral, Bounty Killer will report to the Gun Court in Kingston where he’ll answer to charges illegal possession of firearm, assault at common-law and unlawful wounding in relation to a 2007 incident where it’s alleged that the prominent deejay and a group of men assaulted an off-duty police officer in New Kingston. Amongst those allegations are that Bounty Killer supposedly pointed a gun at the officer.
The trial was postponed to March 20 after Bounty Killer appeared in court on Tuesday, only for the matter to be delayed once more.
